The Origin
In April 2014, Khushroo Poacha sat by his mother's bedside at CIIMS hospital, as she battled cancer. She noticed he seemed particularly gloomy on that day. "Why are you so sad?" she asked. He told her what he had seen outside: families from distant villages, sleeping on pavements, cooking meager meals on the roadside, struggling for food when the hospital canteen closed on Sundays. Seva Kitchen makes sure that they don't begin it hungry because battles like these need more than medicines. A proper meal gives them the strength to continue their day. For many families, this food removes a major daily expense so that they can concentrate only on recovery. They fight cancer, we take care of the meals.
